What do you say to someone who just told you that his/her father had been retrenched a few months ago, and is currently in need of the hospital's attention, plus the fact that his/her grandmother is sickly and couldn't walk anymore, not forgetting to mention that he/she now has to bear the responsibility of seeing his/her younger sibling through his/her education?
Seriously, what do you say? Is there ever such a thing as "the right thing to say" in this kind of situation? Or do you just let the actions speak since actions do speak louder than words? And if really actions do speak louder than words, what could you possibly do, realistically speaking of course. Or do you just lend a shoulder to cry on and a listening ear for him/her to bare the heart out? |
